Be the Perfect Guest; Bring Bareware to a Party!
I pride myself on being the ideal guest. Anytime I stay at a friend’s house, I bake her cookies or a cake to show my appreciation. I try to adhere to my grandmother’s motto to “Leave a place nicer than you found it.” I clean up after myself, don’t make a mess, and even take short showers (something that does not come naturally to me).
My “bake for the host” rule suffices for all gatherings except housewarming parties. For those functions,I feel that I should contribute something to the new home. I like to contribute barware, a flatware caddy, a beverage dispenser or the like; something that is festive and practical. If I am feeling particularly ambitious, I may even present a celebratory cake and glass cake stand as a two-part gift. Unfortunately for my Emily Post tendencies, I just started a new job and thus do not have the time to browse stores looking for the right present. As a result, I have embraced online shopping. I can buy all different types of other hospitality gifts in a fraction of the time it would take me to purchase them instores.
Shopping for tabletop accessories online enables me to show my appreciation to my friends. The wide variety of products offered means that I feel I am still adding a personal touch to whatever I give them.
